What is downtown Long Branch? And no less urgently — where is it?
Long Branch is east of downtown Silver Spring, west of Takoma Park.
Sounds artistic, doesn’t it? Sort of like the title of a Steinbeck novel. I’m thinking East of Eden, less obviously Cannery Row, though there’s something to ponder there as well.
Fair enough, you say. But why should I visit Long Branch?
To start with, to see the Flower Avenue district’s uniquely colorful, unpretentiously inviting shops and restaurants with something for every budget. To view our many full-size murals. Or, you know, to do your laundry, buy a laptop, or get those Columbian-made jeans that have such a way better fit … (See store directory).
Not to overlook the scene on the corner of University Blvd. and Piney Branch Road. (While there say ‘hi’ to the owner over at LA Mart: great guy — as is typical for Long Branch …)
Authentic, rooted, welcoming. A hidden gem? Yes. Discover Long Branch!
